Kenesto locks your files so that your work is protected from unintended access and other file management issues, such as another user updating the file while you are editing.

There are three ways to use Kenesto file locking.

Traditional folders with automatic locking, where your access is first come, first served. Kenesto will lock the file and display an overlay for all other users to indicate that it is locked, and only allow other users read only access.

Vaulted folders for manual check-in and check-out. In a vault, you check files out whenever you’re ready to edit and back in when you are done. All other users see the checked out file overlay and interact with them as locked and read only.

With regular folders, should you get disconnected from the internet, the file lock will be released in a few minutes,

In a vault, you retain edit permission as long as you have the file checkout regardless of whether you are connected or not.

Want to switch a folder type? Just right-click and choose the setting you need.

Kenesto also supports file freezing, where the files is locked read only. This is to indicate that the file should not be edited by any user and is read only at all times.
